Union health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Wednesday said that there is no shortage of Covid vaccines in India and it is the job of States/UTs to provide vaccines in a time-bound manner to vaccination centres
“There is no shortage of vaccines and the Government of India gives vaccines to every state. It is the job of states to provide  vaccine doses at the vaccination centres in a time bound manner with meticulous planning,” he said speaking to media men in New Delhi as per news agencyHe said that the central government is working very hard to control the pandemic and speeding up the nationwide covid-19 vaccination program and states/UTs should cooperate.
“Whichever states are reporting to us about shortage, we are supplying the adequate vaccines without delay," he said.
However,  Vardhan said that the country is facing shortage of Remdesivir which happened because its production was reduced as COVID-19 cases were decreasing. “Our drug controller and ministry held a meeting with stakeholders and asked manufacturers to strengthen the production,” the Union Minister said.
He further added that Drugs Controller General of India (DGCI) has directed for strict action into any complaint of black marketing of Remdesivir. “Those who are exploiting people & creating artificial shortage of medicine, strict action should be taken against them,” the Union Minister said.Pertinently, COVID-19 cases are increasing in India every passing day, but Private hospitals are facing problems in treating patients due to shortage of Remdesivir injections. There are reports that Remdesivir is being sold between Rs 2,400-6,000. The injection is being sold in black market at even higher prices.
